iPhones aren’t cheap. And humans can be pretty clumsy. So it’s perfectly rational to want to protect your device with a case. But with so many on the market, how are you supposed to know which ones are worth plumping for? In truth, there are many good options available depending on your exact priorities – but for every decent case there are half a dozen useless ones. That’s where we come in – we’ve picked three of our favorites for your consideration.
Whether you’re looking for the best protection, longer battery life or just a good all-rounder that won’t break the bank, these are all solid choices. Whatever your needs, we’ve got you covered!

Best on a small budget
Incipio NGP Case ($15.33)
Not only is it pretty cheap, this option is a good all-rounder for those who just want a simple, plain case for their iPhone. It’s a relatively slim, flexible case with a slightly translucent matte finish. Its durable polymer finish will protect against the majority of knocks and scratches, though it can’t compete with our next choice in terms of drop protection. With cut-outs in all the right places and a much grippier finish than the naturally slippery iPhone, this is a very respectable case for the price.

Best for durability
Magpul Industries Field Case ($14.65/$16.78)
For the same kind of money, you can get a much more protective case. Though its design may be a little more divisive than the Incipio, its semi-rigid material provides good protection against accidental drops and bumps. The matte finish is pretty grippy and it makes your iPhone much more durable without adding too much bulk. Magpul’s reviews are overwhelmingly positive – if you’re worried about keeping your device in prime condition, this case is a great choice.

Best for extra battery life
Anker Extended Battery Case ($42.99)
Anker’s case is the priciest of our picks, but with good reason – with its integrated battery, using this case will more than double the battery life of your iPhone. If you spend a lot of time watching videos or playing games, you’ll know the battery can drain pretty fast. It’s a nice looking case and will of course offer protection against scratches and everyday knocks to boot. Though this case will add a quarter-inch to the bottom of your device, heavy users may find it indispensable.
Note: Anker don’t make a battery case for the larger Plus models, as that device already ships with a bigger battery than the iPhone 6 / 6s.
