Apple’s Carpool Karaoke was set to launch this month on Apple Music, but in a surprise move, Apple has delayed the launch of its original video series until “later this year.”
The rights to the show, which started life as a segment on James Corden’s Late Late Show, were acquired by Apple last year, and following the unveiling of the show’s first couple of trailers back in February, it was announced that the show would be available for Apple Music subscribers in April.
However, as reported by Reuters, a planned premiere party for the show which was scheduled for March was postponed twice without explanation, and now the entire series has been pushed back.

Apple has since said in a statement: “Carpool Karaoke: The Series will premiere on Apple Music later this year,” while providing no further information on its delay.
Despite this, a representative for CBS, which airs Corden’s show said: “We’re excited about our ‘Carpool Karaoke’ for Apple Music, and look forward to everyone seeing it later this year.”
The series will contain 16 half-hour episodes and will feature two prominent celebrities driving around during the day, singing along to popular music.
It will be free to view for Apple Music subscribers. Apple Music costs $9.99 per month.
A second original show Planet of the Apps about apps and their creators is planned to launch this spring. It features Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gary Vaynerchuk, and will.i.am as judges and mentors for developers and their apps.
