Apple expected to unveil new iPhone and iPad in March

The iPad Pro is huge: here it is, compared against an iPad mini and iPhone 6 Plus.

It looks as though Apple’s next special event will take place on March 15th, during which the company is expected to unveil official details on the iPhone 5se, iPad Air 3 and Apple Watch.

If the swathes of rumors are remotely true, Apple is gearing up to unveil it’s first 4-inch iPhone since 2013. General consensus seems to show that the new device will pair the size of the iPhone 5 and 5s with the aesthetics of the iPhone 6 and 6s, with processing power and features falling somewhere in between. It is widely expected to be called the iPhone 5se, though we’re not fully convinced – Apple could still opt for iPhone 6c as an alternative.

We also expect to see the iPad Air 3, the first big update to Apple’s svelte tablet since 2014. As well as the standard power upgrades, it’s likely the new device will borrow some features from the iPad Pro. This could mean enhanced speakers and support for peripherals like the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil.

Finally, there should be some Apple Watch related announcements. Though it’s widely anticipated that the Apple Watch 2 is coming this year, March looks to be too early for an announcement and it’s much more likely we’ll instead see some new bands, accessories and software shown off.

Though the date is not yet set in stone, it’s been reported by trustworthy sources at both 9to5Mac and Buzzfeed News. Apple’s last media event was in September, and the company usually stages these kind of announcements on a six-monthly basis. It all fits.
