Apple begins selling refurbished iPhones online – 6s and 6s Plus models available

We wouldn't recommend throwing your iPhones into the air like this

Despite long selling refurbished Macs and other products on its online store, Apple’s been less keen to sell cut price smartphones on its website, perhaps due to the annual refresh cycle the iPhone goes through. However, in a surprise move, which follows another rare price drop across various accessories, Apple has begun selling refurbished iPhone 6s and 6s Plus’ on its online store.

As with other product lines, refurbished prices are generally 15 percent cheaper than the full price option – though bear in mind they’ve been rigorously tested by Apple and come with a full 12-month warranty. Prices start at $449 for a 6s with 16GB storage, and rise to $529 for a 6s Plus 16 GB or $589 for a 64GB 6s Plus. Currently these are the only models available and come in Rose Gold, Gold, Silver and Space Gray.

Refurbished iPhones only appear to have arrived in the US Apple online store at the moment, but it’s likely more territories will begin selling refurbished iPhones in the future. This is the first time since the very early days of the iPhone that Apple has sold refurbished models.
