Although the next generation of iPhones is still more than six months away, rumors and leaks are already emerging as Apple finalizes its designs ahead of manufacturing. One of the latest suggests that Apple may introduce a significant shift in its camera design with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, moving from the familiar top-left camera module to a larger ‘Camera Bar’ spanning the top of the device.
A newly leaked case design, shared by the usually-pretty-reliable leaker Sonny Dickson on social media, showcases a MagSafe-compatible case with notable changes to the camera module layout. The render suggests Apple may relocate the TrueTone LED flash, rear microphone, and LiDAR sensor to the right side of the device, while the triple-lens system remains in place.
This change supports speculation that Apple could introduce a Camera Bar design instead of the traditional standalone system, perhaps due to lens improvements that would require additional space. We know Apple has dabbled with periscope lenses before, and it’s always looking to implement larger sensors. Maybe spacing out the other camera elements is the solution?
Such a shift could address stability concerns by preventing the device from rocking when placed on a flat surface. If true, the design changes would likely extend to the smaller iPhone 17 Pro model as well.
Of course, it’s important to remember that case makers often work with unverified rumors, and even the most reputable leakers love to share nice visuals for clicks. Until we get more concrete evidence, stick this one in the maybe pile.
