Apps of the Week: three great apps from March 6, 2020

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! We’ve found two new titles in particular that we think are worthy of your attention, as well as a golden oldie that we reckon deserves another mention.

App of the Week

Zinnia Journal [Free, $10/£10 Premium tier]

Developer Pixite has dabbled in slick photo manipulation apps, a couple of coloring apps, and a logo creation app. Zinnia Journal brings several of these elements together into a comprehensive iPad-only journaling tool. You can record your day in a whole variety of ways, from text input to photo insertion to sketching with the Apple Pencil. Habit trackers, to-do lists, weekly logs, collages – however you want to commit your thoughts to record, Zinnia is set up to help.

Game of the Week

Sticky Terms [Free]

The latest game from Philipp Stollenmayer (he of supertype, Sometimes You Die, and Song of Bloom fame) features one of the most interesting premises for a word game that we’ve seen in quite a while. It sees you physically reassembling chopped up and supposedly “untranslatable” words from different languages. Once done, the description manifests itself with a satisfying drum roll. It’s fun, stylish, and educational all at once, like all the best word games.

WebMD [Free]

It goes without saying that many people are particularly concerned with health matters at the moment. This seems to be a good opportunity to offer a shout out to WebMD – a handy health resource for iOS users. The app will give you a handy Symptom Checker to help you identify possible conditions and treatments, as well as a local doctor locator, a medication reminder function, and a drug price checker facility. If you find yourself worrying over a heavy case of the sniffles, it may be worth a download.
