More from the App Store – great apps you might have missed [July 31 2020]

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! We’ve found two new titles in particular that we think are worthy of your attention, as well as a golden oldie that we reckon deserves another mention.

App of the Week

Watch With Friends [Free]

With a fresh wave of lockdown measures seemingly inevitable in many countries around the world, many of us are going to be getting even more familiar with our Netflix accounts. Watch With Friends could help to make the process a lot more social. It’s a remote viewing party service that works on your phone, letting you insert a Netflix link and have multiple companions watch along with you. There’s also a built in chat facility, so you can natter away about the latest Netflix Original with your buddies.

Game of the Week

Good Sudoku [Free]

It seems so very right that Zach Gage would take on Sudoku for his next project. After ‘fixing’ the games of solitaire, chess, and pool by making more accessible and fun, it’s now the turn of the popular pen-and-paper number game. Gage achieves his goal with a trademark clean and crisp style, and by taking a lot of the tiresome busywork out of filling in a Sudoku grid, which can often feel like a glorified game of Bingo.

HERE WeGo [Free]

Let’s be real here – Apple has still got a huge way to go to catch up to Google Maps with its own Maps app. But what if you’re averse to using the big G’s products? HERE WeGo has been quietly supplying an alternative mapping app for years now, and it’s really rather good. Besides comprehensive global map data (hear that Apple?), including public transit and cab fare cost breakdowns, HERE WeGo offers the ability to download offline maps for entire countries at a time.
